"... to reveal art and conceal the artist is art's aim"
Oscar Wilde - The Picture of Dorian Gray

The paintings you see here are made in the years 1998 and 1999
The technique is a fusion of classical old school olipainting technique and my own style, which uses oilcolors in a more liquid way, almost like watercolors. This brings as side effect a shorter drying time, which allows at the one hand to work with multiple transparent layers and brings more depth and mystery to the painting, on the other hand it enables to work more spontaneously and keeps colors fresh and pure ( besides, in the same style, but with tempera, are produced many of my illustrations ).
About the pictures themselves I don't want to talk too much, my English is not good enough for this.
Generally, I prefer not to focus too much on details, because I think it's more important to look at the picture as a whole.
Then it gradually will reveal its secrets, will bring familiar shapes and memories to your eyes.
The paintings want to narrate about love and death, feelings and ideas, chaos and cosmos.
But I think what really counts, is your personal experience and your own phantasy - they awaken the pictures to life.

I would appreciate very much to hear from you what you do think about the paintings
- if you like, send me a short message or sign the guestbook - I will try to answer all your questions.
