I
always was fascinated by the great old masters of pen-and-ink
drawing like Rembrandt or Francisco Goya but also by the
Austrians Alfred Kubin and Egon Schiele who combined
virtuous technique with mystic expression. Nevertheless
the greatest influence I got from the German draftsman
Wilhelm Busch and from Manfred Schmidt and his famous 'Nick
Knatterton'. I can't even remember, how often I looked at
their books!!
I admire their easyness and precision and their bizarre
sense of humour and the great abilitiy of abstraction.
Of contemporary illustrators I like very much the
creations of 'Sandman' by Neil Gayman and the brilliant
Swiss designer Ott.
The
illustration pages are slowly loading!!
But try yourself - your connection is probably faster
than mine...
I've reduced the pics as much as possible but if I do
more, they loose a lot more of details and colors
so please be patient - maybe have a coffee?
